Who We Are
We are a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC). Our members come from many different backgrounds, including, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Charismatic and various other Evangelical churches.
The OPC denomination holds ecclesiastical fellowship with such other protestant churches as: The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), the Canadian and American Reformed Churches, the Free Church of Scotland, the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA), the Reformed Church in the United States (RCUS) and the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA).
We hold to a Reformed understanding of the Christian faith. We hold the Bible to be God's word, and the infallible rule of faith and practice. Our own standards are summed up in the Westminster Standards, which include the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms and the Westminster Confession of Faith. Other standards which also deal with the Reformed Tradition are: The Heidelberg Catechism, The Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dort.
We stand in line with the historic Christian church: from the apostles to the early church fathers, through the medieval era, through the Reformation, up to today. The pamphlet “Christ Proclaims a Better Way” is available as a free download (high resolution for printing, medium resolution for reading on electronic devices) in PDF available or can be purchased here.
In worship we hold to the Regulative Principle of Worship, which states that only what God has commanded is lawful to be done in the worship service. Our service is made up primarily of hymns/psalms, prayers and reading and exposition of the Word of God. As opposed to much contemporary worship, our services are very simple, and not entertainment driven. We also believe that the whole family should be in the worship service together, so we do not have any separate children's church.
Our sermons are generally expositions of the Scriptures, but because we go through the Scriptures, many current topics are dealt with including: the doctrines of grace, the five solas of the Reformation, living a godly life, the fruits of the Spirit, and other biblical themes.
